Minimize From Tullins to Vinay

In 1977, during harvesting time, the Tullins plant was totally burnt with a walnut stock of 200 tons. The fire lasted one week.

In 1978, new buildings were set up in Vinay. The factory was extended in 1992. Over the years, to meet the customers’ demand, improvement of tools appeared above all for packing. This step developed from a manual to a mechanical work. Packaging got smaller by following the new consumption habits and the setting-up of mass retail sector. From 100kg bags, usual pack weights changed to 500g and 1kg consumer units. Even with an efficient production system in Vinay factory (2000 tons of walnuts are dispatched yearly during October only), recent surveys on orchards and crop forecasts emphasize the need for new productivity improvement, which will lead to an even better reactivity at the high season beginning.

A modernization programme over a few years plans increased daily-packing capacities, and also more cold storage facilities. New technologies for sorting/sizing walnuts and palletizing automatically end products are under study.
